The role of the Altar Server is to assist the Priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass. This ministry is open to boys and girls in grades two through twelve.  Training sessions are held regularly. Young people may join at any time during the year.  Altar Server responsibilities include the following: Attend training sessions and is willing to take direction.  Arrives early enough to carry out tasks without hurry and prepares for the liturgy.  Dresses appropriately according to parish norms.  Is faithful to the schedule and substitute list.  Is willing to substitute when necessary.  Able to stay focused and avoid distracting movements so as not to draw attention away from the Liturgy (sit straight, feet on floor, etc).  Is comfortable in front of people. Can show the proper attitude while performance of tasks with Respect, Reverence, Attention, and Care.  Caring for altar candles, bearing the cross and candles in the entrance procession,  assisting with holy water, water wine and offertory gifts at Mass.

Catechesis comes from a Greek word which means "to echo or re-sound the word." As a person of faith, a catechist is one who believes, not an expert in bible studies, doctrine, sprirtuality, or theology but is able to make the connection between faith and life and pass that on to others. Catechists help others to grow in their faith to a variety of age groups: Elementary age children, Junior and Senior High School Teens, Young Adults and Adults. All men of the parish are welcome & encouraged to become active members.  We meet on the second Sunday of each month (September through June) after the 8:30 Mass.  At that Mass, members serve as lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, altar servers, & greeters.

We have several fund raising social events during the year such as, Lenten pizza sales, Mother’s Day breakfast, & our “famous” ziti dinner.  All proceeds go back to the parish to fund  various  needs & youth activities.  Our society has a team that participates in the Friday’s Table program several times each year. Hospital Ministry is a ministration providing Holy Communion to the sick and in firmed of our community while residing in our local hospital.  We bring the Eucharist to patients and visiting family members present.  Training is provided for all who wish to serve.  If this is something you would like to do, please contact the parish office at (518) 725-3143.

We, the Adult Faith Formation Team of Holy Spirit Church,  are led by the Holy Spirit to understand and love God through His Son , Jesus Christ.  Through sharing our faith and following His example, we will attempt to educate ourselves and others,and to promote the growth and understanding of the basic truths of the Catholic faith. Our objectives are:  1. to provide ongoing opportunities to fulfill the spiritual needs of adults; 2. to help adults of the parish and other Catholics who wish to  attend our programs to develop a more unwavering and fruitful faith; 3. To nurture spiritual growth in relation to God  and one another;  4. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed and adored by volunteers who sign up for one hour or more to pray before the Lord Jesus--truly, really, and substantially Present in His Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. The Perpetual Adoration Chapel is sponsored by the churches of Fulton and Montgomery Counties and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Advises the Pastor on financial matters of the parish and school. Responsible for monitoring all income and expenses, and approving the annual budgets.

Working in an advisory capacity, the Parish Pastoral Council listens to its fellow parishioners and assist the pastor in providing leadership and fostering growth of the parish ministries, programs and activities. 

There are seven members on the Council who serve a three year term.

If you are in grades 6-12, this is the program for you! We meet every Sunday evening during the school year in Spirit Central (this is the name of our youth space). Grades 6-8 meet from 6:00-7:00 PM and grades 9-12 meet from 7:15-8:15 PM.  We have a team consisting of adults and teen mentors who work together to share God's love with our teens and to give them the tools they need to understand their faith, what it has to do with their daily lives, and how to live that faith.  In addition to our weekly meetings, we have lock-ins, movie nights, retreats, community service and more.  If you have any questions, you can contact Ann Marie Simonson (Youth Minister) at (518) 848-1986.

Two trustees are appointed by the pastor.  They advise & assist the pastor as requested. Trustees verify & certify to the Diocese that the financial statements  & reports are true and accurate.

Held Friday afternoons at 12:10 PM during Lent.

Volunteers who assist people to their seat if necessary. They also take up the collection.

Volunteers who care for and beautify the grounds and church.

Responsible for the preparation and care of the altar linens. This includes the washing and ironing of purificators, corporals, and altar linens.

Rite of Christian Initiation – preparation of adult candidates for Catholic sacraments.

Duties include preparing the altar for Mass and cleaning the altar following Mass.

Friday’s Table is a community outreach program initiated and managed by The Church of the Holy Spirit. Every Friday, dating back to 1998, volunteers come together to give of their time, talent, and treasure, to serve, clothe, and feed those in need. All the food and clothing is donated.
